Controller Inhibit Required
SEW Eurodrive · MOVIDRIVE compact System (MCF/MCV/MCS4_A)
What does 8.0.00.1C mean?
The requested parameter change or action cannot be performed while the inverter's controller is active (enabled). For safety or operational integrity, this parameter requires the controller to be inhibited (disabled) before modification. Attempts to change it during active control will result in this error.
Common Causes
- Attempting to change fundamental motor control parameters (e.g., P1-01 "Motor Rated Voltage," P1-02 "Motor Rated Current," P1-03 "Motor Rated Frequency") while the inverter's main controller is enabled or actively running the motor.
- Modifying critical safety-related parameters (e.g., P3-05 "Safe Torque Off (STO) Configuration") requires the drive's controller to be fully inhibited to ensure no accidental motor movement.
- Switching between different control modes (e.g., V/f control to vector control via P1-05 "Control Mode") often requires the controller to be inhibited and then re-enabled.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Issue a "Controller Inhibit" command to the inverter via the control panel (e.g., pressing "Stop" or "Off" button), digital input (e.g., DI1 configured as Inhibit), or fieldbus command (e.g., Modbus register 40001 bit 0).
- 2
Verify that the inverter's status display indicates "Inhibited" or "Stopped" before attempting the parameter change.
- 3
Once the parameter has been successfully changed, re-enable the controller by issuing an "Enable" or "Start" command.
- 4
Review the application sequence in the PLC or HMI to ensure that parameter modifications are only attempted when the drive's enable command is de-asserted.
