Counter fault

Vacon · NXS NXP AC Drive

What does 24 mean?

The drive's internal counters are displaying incorrect values, which suggests a potential data corruption or an internal processing error. While not immediately critical to motor operation, inaccurate counter data can lead to incorrect system logging or misdiagnosis. This fault usually points to an internal software or hardware issue with the control unit.

Common Causes

  • Software bug or corrupted firmware within the drive's operating system affecting counter logic.
  • Malfunctioning internal memory (RAM) where counter values are temporarily stored before being processed.
  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) inducing transient errors in the microprocessor's calculations or data transfer.
  • A faulty hardware component on the control board responsible for maintaining or processing counter data.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Attempt to clear or reset the affected internal counters via the drive's menu system or software interface (e.g., P7-xx "Counter reset").

  2. 2

Perform a power cycle of the drive (turn off main power, wait 30 seconds, turn on) to reset the internal processor and memory.

  3. 3

Verify the drive's firmware version is up-to-date and consider re-flashing the firmware if available and applicable.

  4. 4

Check for sources of EMI near the drive, such as unshielded power cables or high-frequency switching devices, and ensure proper grounding.
