What does 51 mean?

A user-specified digital input signal (configured with parameter P3.5.1.11 or P3.5.1.12) was activated, triggering an external fault. This indicates an issue with an external device or its signaling to the drive, which is configured to stop the drive upon activation.

Common Causes

  • An external safety device (e.g., emergency stop, thermal overload relay, limit switch) connected to a digital input has activated.
  • A wiring fault (e.g., open circuit, short to common) in the digital input circuit configured for external fault (e.g., P3.5.1.11 or P3.5.1.12).
  • The digital input's polarity configuration (e.g., P3.5.1.13 for DI1 polarity) does not match the external device's output logic (N.O. vs N.C.).
