The oil aging sensor signals an over-temperature condition in the gear unit oil. High oil temperatures accelerate degradation, reduce lubrication effectiveness, and can cause damage to the gear unit components and seals.

• Inadequate cooling of the gear unit due to clogged cooling fins, blocked ventilation, or cooling fan failure.
• Overloading of the gear unit beyond its rated thermal capacity (e.g., continuous operation at 120% rated torque).
• Incorrect lubricant type or viscosity used, leading to higher internal friction and excessive heat generation.
• Increased internal friction due to worn bearings, misaligned gears, or critically insufficient lubrication levels.
• High ambient operating temperature (e.g., above 40°C) exceeding the gear unit's design limits for heat dissipation.
