OL1

Motor Overload Fault

Yaskawa · E7 Drive

¿Qué significa OL1 ?

This fault occurs when the motor current exceeds 110% of the value set in parameter E2-01 (Motor Rated Current) for a duration determined by L1-02 (Motor Overload Protection Time). It indicates the motor is drawing excessive current, risking overheating and potential damage if the condition is not resolved.

Causas comunes

  • Motor mechanical overload due to increased process load, binding, or friction in the driven equipment.
  • Incorrect setting of E2-01 (Motor Rated Current) in the drive parameters (set too low compared to motor nameplate).
  • Motor cooling issues (e.g., blocked fan, dirty fins) causing reduced current capacity and overheating.
  • Under-sized motor for the application, consistently operating near or above its rated current capacity.
  • Damaged motor bearings or winding insulation leading to increased current draw and inefficiency.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

    1. Measure the actual motor current with a clamp meter during operation and compare to the value set in E2-01 (Motor Rated Current).

  2. 2

    2. Inspect the driven machinery for mechanical binding, seizing bearings, or excessive load that impedes motor rotation.

  3. 3

    3. Verify E2-01 (Motor Rated Current) is accurately set to the motor's nameplate rated current.

  4. 4

    4. Check L1-02 (Motor Overload Protection Time) setting to ensure it provides adequate thermal protection without nuisance tripping.

  5. 5

    5. Monitor motor winding temperature using an infrared thermometer during operation to detect overheating independent of the drive.
