USB Communication Fault

Mitsubishi Electric · FR-A800 Troubleshooting Course

What does E.USB mean?

This fault indicates a problem with the USB communication connection between the FR-A800 inverter and an external device (e.g., FR Configurator2 software). It occurs when the USB cable is disconnected or communication is interrupted while N041 (Pr.548) (USB communication check time interval) is configured to detect such disconnections.

Common Causes

  • The USB cable connecting the inverter to the PC (running FR Configurator2) was disconnected while communication was active.
  • Poor or intermittent connection of the USB cable.
  • Parameter N041 (Pr.548) (USB communication check time interval) is set to a short interval, making it sensitive to brief communication interruptions.
  • Faulty USB port on the FR-A800 inverter or the PC.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the FR-A800 inverter and the PC.

  2. 2

Verify the USB cable is not damaged and replace it if necessary.

  3. 3

Check parameter N041 (Pr.548) (USB communication check time interval). If frequent disconnections are expected during configuration, adjust this parameter to a longer interval or '9999' (no check).

  4. 4

Test the USB connection using a different USB port on the PC or a different PC to rule out PC-related issues.
