65291

Motor phase failure phase V

Lenze · i550 Protec Drive

What does 65291 mean?

A failure specifically of motor phase V has been detected. This indicates an open circuit in the wiring for phase V between the inverter and the motor, or an issue within the motor's V-phase winding. The error can only be reset after a 2-second blocking time.

Common Causes

  • Broken conductor in motor cable phase V between the inverter output (V) and motor terminal (V1).
  • Loose electrical connection at inverter output terminal V or motor terminal V1.
  • Internal open circuit in the motor's V-phase winding.
  • Failure of the inverter's internal power switching device (IGBT) responsible for phase V output.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

De-energize the drive and lock out power at the main disconnect.

  2. 2

Disconnect the motor cable from the inverter's U, V, W output terminals.

  3. 3

Measure the resistance between inverter output terminals U and V, and V and W using a multimeter; expect infinite resistance (open circuit).

  4. 4

Measure the resistance of the motor's V-phase winding by disconnecting the motor cable from the motor and measuring between motor terminals U1-V1, U1-W1, and V1-W1; verify balanced, low resistance readings.

  5. 5

Check for continuity of the motor cable conductor for phase V using a multimeter, measuring between the inverter-side V conductor and the motor-side V1 conductor.
