F218
Heatsink Overtemperature Shutdown
Indramat · ECODRIVE Controller
What does F218 mean?
The temperature of the heatsink in the ECODRIVE DKC01.1/DKC11.1 drive controller has reached the maximum allowable temperature. After 30 seconds of this condition, the drive reacts according to parameter P-0-0119 (Best Possible Deceleration) to bring the motor to a standstill.
Common Causes
- Deficiency of the drive's internal blower.
- Deficiency of the control cabinet’s climate control.
- Incorrect control cabinet dimensioning regarding the head ventilation.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Reduce the ambient temperature, for example, by improving the cooling of the control cabinet.
- 2
Remove any obstruction or dirt from the drive's heatsink to ensure proper airflow.
- 3
Verify the drive controller is installed vertically and has a large enough area for proper heatsink ventilation.
- 4
If the internal blower is deficient, the drive controller DKC01.1/DKC11.1 must be exchanged.
