S-0-0011 Bit 3

Cooling Error Shutdown

Indramat · dds 2.1 digital servo drive User Manual

What does S-0-0011 Bit 3 mean?

A Class 1 Diagnostic indicating a critical fault related to the DDS 2.1 drive's cooling system, leading to an immediate shutdown. The drive decelerates to zero speed and shuts down torque. This condition is reset only after the cause is cleared and the command 'Reset Class 1 Diagnostics' is received via the service channel. This error signifies a failure in maintaining the drive's operating temperature within safe limits, distinct from simple over-temperature which allows a 30-second warning.

Common Causes

  • Complete failure of the DDS 2.1 internal cooling fan or a critical external cooling component.
  • Blockage of the drive's heatsink or air passages, severely impeding airflow.
  • Malfunction of a dedicated cooling fluid circuit (if applicable) for the power stage.
  • Faulty temperature sensor within the drive's cooling system, providing incorrect feedback.
  • Severe environmental conditions (e.g., ambient temperature far exceeding specifications) overwhelming the cooling capacity.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Inspect the DDS 2.1 internal cooling fan for proper operation and ensure it is not obstructed; replace the drive if the fan is inoperative.

  2. 2

Verify that the heatsink fins and air inlets/outlets on the drive are clean and free of dust or debris.

  3. 3

Check for any error indications from external cooling units (e.g., cabinet air conditioner, heat exchanger) and ensure they are operating correctly.

  4. 4

Confirm the ambient temperature around the drive and within the control cabinet is within the specified operating range for the DDS 2.1.

  5. 5

If a specific cooling fluid circuit exists, verify its flow, pressure, and temperature.
