AF85

Line side unit warning

ABB · ACS880

What does AF85 mean?

The supply unit (or another converter) has generated a warning. The auxiliary code specifies the original warning code from the supply unit's control program. This indicates a problem on the line-side of the system, which could affect the entire drive operation.

Common Causes

  • A specific warning condition (e.g., over-temperature, supply undervoltage) has occurred within the line-side unit (LSU), generating a local warning.
  • Auxiliary code indicates a temporary issue on the AC supply network connected to the LSU, such as a phase imbalance or voltage sag (e.g., 'A500: Mains undervoltage').
  • Control parameter in the LSU (e.g., P3-10: Mains supervision level) is set too sensitively, triggering warnings during normal operating transients.
  • An external device connected to the LSU's inputs (e.g., cooling fan status) has triggered a warning in the LSU's control program.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Access the control panel or diagnostic interface of the line-side unit (LSU) and retrieve the specific warning code (auxiliary code) that triggered AF85.

  2. 2

Investigate the specific LSU warning code obtained in step 1 using the LSU's documentation to understand its root cause.

  3. 3

Monitor the incoming AC mains voltage and frequency at the LSU's input terminals (e.g., L1, L2, L3) for stability and compare against nominal values.

  4. 4

Verify the LSU's internal temperature sensors via diagnostic readouts to check for localized overheating.

  5. 5

Review the LSU's parameters, specifically those related to mains supervision (e.g., P3-10) and external input warnings, for appropriate settings.
