Panel reference conflict
ABB · ACS880
What does 7083 mean?
An attempt was made to use a saved control panel reference in multiple control modes simultaneously, which is not permitted. The control panel reference can only be saved for one reference type at a time. This prevents correct reference assignment.
Common Causes
- Incorrect drive configuration where a control panel reference is assigned to multiple active command sources simultaneously (e.g., `P20.01` (Speed reference source) and another source both set to `Keypad`).
- Operator error attempting to save a panel reference while the drive is in a control mode that restricts this action.
- Software bug in drive firmware leading to misinterpretation of control panel reference assignments.
- Corrupted parameter memory leading to an unintended simultaneous assignment of control panel references.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Review the drive's control mode parameters (e.g., `P20.01` (Speed reference source), `P20.02` (Torque reference source)) and ensure the control panel is assigned as a reference source to only one active mode.
- 2
If using a PC tool, verify that the control panel reference is selected as the active source in only one instance (e.g., `P21.01` (Reference 1 select) is set to `Keypad` and no other primary reference is also `Keypad`).
- 3
Clear any conflicting settings by temporarily setting all primary reference sources to an inert value (e.g., `Fieldbus`) and then reconfiguring them one by one.
- 4
Perform a full power cycle of the drive (main power disconnect for at least 30 seconds) to clear any transient parameter conflicts from volatile memory.
- 5
If the fault persists after re-configuration, consider performing a factory reset (e.g., `P99.04 = 1`) and loading a known good parameter set.
