Signal supervision 2
ABB · ACS580
What does 80B1 mean?
This programmable fault is triggered by the signal supervision function 2, indicating that a monitored signal (defined in parameter 32.17) has violated its configured supervision criteria (defined in parameter 32.16). This helps in detecting abnormal conditions of critical internal or external signals, preventing unintended operation or damage.
Common Causes
- Monitored signal (defined in P32.17) value violating the configured supervision criteria (e.g., falling below P32.18 or exceeding P32.19).
- Faulty sensor or measurement device providing the signal source for supervision (e.g., pressure sensor, level sensor).
- Incorrectly configured supervision limits (P32.18, P32.19) or delay times (P32.20) for the application's operating conditions.
- Loss of communication or intermittent signal from the source linked to P32.17.
- Sudden load change or process anomaly causing the monitored signal to deviate outside expected limits for a sustained period.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
1. Identify the signal source configured in P32.17 (Signal Source 2) and monitor its actual value (e.g., using P01.XX monitoring parameters or an external meter).
- 2
2. Verify the supervision limits set in P32.18 (Signal 2 Min Limit) and P32.19 (Signal 2 Max Limit) are appropriate for the application's normal operating range.
- 3
3. Check the status and calibration of the external sensor or device providing the signal to P32.17.
- 4
4. Adjust supervision delay time P32.20 (Signal 2 Delay) if transient signal fluctuations are causing nuisance trips.
- 5
5. Inspect wiring integrity for the signal linked to P32.17 for loose connections, damage, or proper shielding.
