Incompatible option module
ABB · ACS580
What does 7085 mean?
A fieldbus or other option module installed in the drive's option slot is not supported by the drive's firmware or hardware. This module will not function, and its presence might cause conflicts or prevent proper drive operation.
Common Causes
- Installation of an option module that is not listed as compatible for the specific drive model or firmware version.
- Firmware version on the drive is too old to support a newer generation option module.
- Option module is damaged and not correctly identifying itself to the drive upon startup.
- Attempting to install a module designed for a different product family (e.g., an AC drive module in a DC drive).
- An internal diagnostic circuit on the drive's control board is unable to correctly read the module's identifier.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Verify the option module's part number and revision against the drive's compatibility list in the drive's manual.
- 2
Update the drive's main firmware to the latest available version, as newer firmware often adds support for more modules.
- 3
Power down the drive, remove the module, inspect its connectors for damage, and re-insert it firmly.
- 4
If the module is new, ensure it is a genuine part and not a counterfeit or incorrectly labeled component.
- 5
If the module is known to be compatible, try installing it in a different, known-good option slot on another drive (if available) to rule out a faulty slot.
