Version of F-Parameter Set Incorrect
ABB · AC500
What does 40 mean?
The version of the PROFIsafe parameter set loaded into the safety PLC is incorrect or incompatible with the current system environment or firmware. This can cause functional discrepancies, prevent proper operation of safety functions, or lead to unexpected behavior. Using an incorrect parameter set could introduce unknown safety risks.
Common Causes
- PROFIsafe F-parameter set version in the safety PLC (e.g., Siemens S7-1500F, Rockwell GuardLogix) does not match the version required by the F-Host (safety controller).
- Firmware update on the F-Device (e.g., safety I/O module, drive with integrated safety) without updating the corresponding GSDML file or parameter set in the safety PLC project.
- Incorrect GSDML file imported into the engineering software (e.g., TIA Portal, Studio 5000) for the specific F-Device hardware revision.
- Manual modification of F-parameters directly on the device that conflicts with the loaded F-parameter set version in the PLC project.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Compare the F-parameter set version configured in the safety PLC project (e.g., in TIA Portal device view) with the version reported by the physical F-Device.
- 2
Verify the installed GSDML file version in the engineering software matches the firmware version of the F-Device by checking the device's nameplate or documentation.
- 3
Export the actual F-parameter set from the F-Device (if supported) and compare it against the safety PLC's project configuration for discrepancies.
- 4
Download the correct F-parameter set version from the manufacturer's website and update the safety PLC project configuration.
- 5
Execute a full download of the updated safety program and F-parameter set to the safety PLC.
