Serial Communications Alarm
Yaskawa · P1000 AC Drive
What does AL14 mean?
This alarm indicates a serial communications issue. It is shown when parameter BO 11 (Communication Fault Enable) is enabled and parameter AO 22 (Cable Loss Speed) is set to a value other than 0, allowing the drive to continue at the last speed.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Inspect the serial communication cable between the Yaskawa P1000 drive and the master control device for physical damage, proper routing, and secure connections at both ends.
- 2
Verify all serial communication parameters (e.g., baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits, drive address) in the Yaskawa P1000 drive's configuration match those set in the master communication device.
- 3
Check the termination resistors and biasing settings on the RS-485 communication network to ensure they are correctly applied according to the network topology and drive manual.
- 4
Verify proper grounding and shielding of the serial communication cable and network infrastructure to prevent electromagnetic interference (EMI) from disrupting communication.
- 5
Monitor the communication status indicators (e.g., LEDs, status screens) on both the Yaskawa P1000 drive and the master communication device for activity, errors, or timeouts.
