Pre-charge

Pre-charge Alarm

Yaskawa · iQpump Simplex Pump Drive

What does Pre-charge mean?

The iQpump operator display indicates a 'Pre-charge' alarm when the pre-charge function is active. This function runs the pump at a fixed frequency (P4-02) until one of the following conditions is met: the feedback signal rises above P4-01, the pre-charge timer P4-03 expires, or the low water digital input (H1-XX = 85) is deactivated. This function is only active in the stopped mode.

Common Causes

  • The pre-charge function is enabled by setting P4-03 (Pre-Charge Time) to a value greater than 0.
  • The system is currently in the process of pre-charging the pump or system according to configured parameters.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Confirm the pre-charge function is intentionally activated by checking if parameter P4-03 (Pre-Charge Time) is set to a value greater than 0.

  2. 2

Monitor the feedback signal to ensure it is rising towards or has exceeded the P4-01 (Pre-Charge Level) to indicate completion.

  3. 3

Verify the pre-charge time set in P4-03 is sufficient for the system to reach the programmed pre-charge level.

  4. 4

If a low water digital input is used (H1-XX = 85), verify its state and ensure it will deactivate upon sufficient water presence.
