Device Changed (Different Type)

Vacon · 100 FLOW Application Guide

What does 44 mean?

A power unit or option board (in slot C, D, or E) has been replaced with a new one of a *different type* than previously used in that position. This means saved parameters for the old device are not compatible or available for the new hardware, requiring reconfiguration. Improper configuration can lead to operational errors.

Common Causes

  • Incorrect option board or power unit installed in slot C, D, or E; the installed type does not match the previously configured or detected device.
  • System parameters (e.g., P2.1.1, P2.2.1, P2.3.1) were not updated or saved after a physical replacement of an option board with a different type.
  • The newly installed device in slot C, D, or E has a different firmware signature or hardware ID than expected by the drive's main control unit.
  • An option board with a different functionality (e.g., digital I/O instead of analog I/O) was inserted into a slot where a specific type is expected.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Verify the part number and type of the device installed in slot C, D, or E against the original bill of materials or system documentation.

  2. 2

    2. If the device was intentionally changed, access parameter P2.1.1 (Slot C type), P2.2.1 (Slot D type), or P2.3.1 (Slot E type) and set it to match the newly installed device type.

  3. 3

    3. Power cycle the drive after parameter adjustment and confirm the fault clears; then reconfigure any device-specific parameters for the new hardware.

  4. 4

    4. If the device was incorrectly replaced, power down the drive, remove the device from slot C, D, or E, and install the correct replacement part.
