3803

The PV array current is too high

SMA · SUNNY CENTRAL 500CP XT / 630CP XT Solar Inverter

What does 3803 mean?

The current from the PV array has exceeded its maximum permissible level. This can indicate an over-dimensioned array or a fault condition leading to excessive current. This will cause the inverter to shut down for 1 minute and reset automatically on day change.

Common Causes

  • Excessive DC input current from the PV array.
  • Incorrect module wiring or system design leading to overcurrent.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check the DC input current of the PV array.

  2. 2

Review the module wiring and system design to ensure current limits are not exceeded.

  3. 3

Verify that the PV array's maximum power point voltage (Vmp) and short-circuit current (Isc) are within the inverter's specifications.
