PROFIBUS/PROFINET: Bus configuration changed (slave/device)
Siemens · SINUMERIK 828D
What does 380502 mean?
This alarm signals that the PROFIBUS/PROFINET bus configuration has changed, either due to initial commissioning or the recognition of a new slave/device on the bus. While not an error in itself, the new settings will only become active after a system restart. This requires a controlled restart to ensure the new configuration is properly loaded and the system operates as intended, avoiding potential communication inconsistencies.
Common Causes
- A new PROFIBUS slave or PROFINET device has been physically added to the network segment.
- The GSD/GSDML file or configuration parameters for an existing slave/device have been updated in the engineering software.
- Replacement of a PROFIBUS/PROFINET slave/device with a different model or firmware version requiring configuration adjustment.
- The engineering software has performed a topology scan and detected a variance from the last saved configuration.
- Memory card containing the project configuration was replaced or updated on the PLC, triggering a configuration change detection.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
1. Acknowledge the alarm in the PLC and verify if the reported configuration change corresponds to a planned modification or new device installation.
- 2
2. Upload the current hardware configuration from the PLC to the engineering software to compare it with the offline project.
- 3
3. If a new device was added, integrate its GSD/GSDML file and configure its parameters in the PLC project, then download the updated configuration.
- 4
4. If an existing device's configuration changed, update the relevant parameters in the engineering software (e.g., I/O addresses, module types).
- 5
5. Perform a 'Compare' function between the online and offline PLC project to identify the exact differences in the bus configuration.
- 6
6. Initiate a complete PLC warm restart (POWER ON/OFF) if a download of the modified configuration requires a full re-initialization of the bus.
