F40002

Fault at DRIVE-CLiQ socket X102

Siemens · SINAMICS S120/S150 Reference List

What does F40002 mean?

A general fault has been detected at the drive object connected to the DRIVE-CLiQ socket X102. The fault value (r0949) provides information about the specific underlying fault that first occurred for this drive object. This fault requires immediate acknowledgment.

Common Causes

  • Damaged or improperly shielded DRIVE-CLiQ cable between the drive and the component connected to socket X102, leading to data corruption or signal loss.
  • Loose or corroded contact pins within the DRIVE-CLiQ connector at socket X102, preventing reliable communication.
  • The connected DRIVE-CLiQ component (e.g., motor module, sensor module, motor with integrated encoder) at X102 is faulty or has incompatible firmware.
  • Insufficient or intermittent 24VDC supply to the connected DRIVE-CLiQ component, causing communication errors or device malfunction.
  • Incorrect DRIVE-CLiQ parameterization (e.g., p0940 (Component type), p0941 (Topology ID)) for the device connected to X102, preventing proper initialization.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Power down the drive, then visually inspect the entire length of the DRIVE-CLiQ cable connected to socket X102 for physical damage, sharp bends, or cuts. Verify cable shielding is intact and properly grounded at both ends.

  2. 2

Power down the drive, then firmly reseat the DRIVE-CLiQ connector at socket X102 on the drive and at the connected component's port. Ensure the latching mechanism is fully engaged.

  3. 3

Measure the 24VDC supply voltage at the power terminals of the component connected via X102 (if applicable) while the system is powered on, ensuring it remains within +/-10% of 24VDC.

  4. 4

Check drive parameters r0940 (Component type) and r0941 (Topology ID) for the component at X102 and compare them with the actual component type and expected topology. Reconfigure p0940 if incorrect.

  5. 5

If the fault persists, replace the DRIVE-CLiQ cable connected to X102 with a known good, identical length cable to rule out cable failure.

  6. 6

If the fault still persists after verifying cable and power, temporarily replace the DRIVE-CLiQ component connected to X102 with a known good, compatible unit to isolate a component hardware fault.
