Ground short-circuit
Schindler · Easy Altivar ATV310 Drive
What does F019 mean?
This ATV310 fault indicates a ground fault condition detected in the system, typically at the drive output or within the motor/cabling. This poses a safety risk and can lead to equipment damage if not promptly addressed.
Common Causes
- Short-circuit or grounding at the drive output terminals or within the motor windings
- Ground fault occurring while the drive is in run state
- Significant current leakage to ground, especially when several motors are connected in parallel to one drive
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Disconnect the motor from the drive and verify the cables connecting the drive to the motor for short circuits (phase-to-phase or phase-to-ground).
- 2
Test the motor insulation resistance using a megohmmeter (megger) to check for ground faults or inter-phase shorts.
- 3
Adjust the switching frequency (parameter 315) to a lower value if transients are suspected to be contributing to the fault.
- 4
Connect chokes in series with the motor if high current leakage to ground is observed or multiple motors are driven by the same VFD.
