• Incorrect encoder wiring to terminal X9 (e.g., swapped A/B signals, missing power supply, shield fault).
• Faulty encoder sensor (e.g., mechanical damage, internal electronics failure) providing no or intermittent signals.
• Loose or corroded connections at the encoder connector, terminal X9 on the drive, or intermediate junction boxes.
• Insufficient or excessive encoder supply voltage (e.g., 5V or 24V) provided by the drive or external supply.

   1. Power down and lockout the drive. Disconnect the encoder cable from terminal X9 on the drive and at the encoder end.

   2. Using a multimeter, check continuity of each individual wire in the encoder cable, paying special attention to the conductor for pin X9/8.

   3. Verify the encoder supply voltage (e.g., 5VDC or 24VDC) present at terminal X9/7 and X9/8 with reference to ground, when the drive is powered on (motor disconnected).

   4. Inspect terminal X9 on the drive and the encoder connector for bent pins, corrosion, or loose connections.
