Braking resistor overload prewarning
Indramat · IndraDrive MPx02
Hva betyr E2820 ?
The IndraDrive MPx02 has detected that the external braking resistor is approaching its maximum thermal capacity. This prewarning indicates that excessive regenerative energy is being dissipated, and continued operation under these conditions could lead to resistor overheating and potential damage or fault.
Vanlige årsaker
- Application generates too much regenerative energy (e.g., frequent decelerations of heavy loads) for the installed braking resistor's rating.
- Insufficient cooling of the braking resistor due to blocked airflow, dirty fins, or inadequate ventilation.
- Incorrect braking resistor parameters (e.g., P-0-0115, Braking resistor continuous power) configured in the drive.
- Short duty cycle of resistor use, leading to rapid heat accumulation without sufficient cooling time.
- High ambient temperatures around the resistor.
Reparasjonssteg & Sjekkliste
Klikk på steg for å spore fremgangen.
- 1
Inspect the braking resistor for any signs of overheating and ensure it has adequate ventilation and is free from obstructions. Allow it to cool down if hot.
- 2
Check the duty cycle and deceleration rates of the application; if excessively high, adjust the motion profile to reduce regenerative energy.
- 3
Verify that the braking resistor's continuous power rating and resistance are correctly configured in the IndraDrive MPx02 via P-0-0115.
- 4
Consider external cooling for the braking resistor (e.g., forced air fan) or upgrading to a higher power rated braking resistor if the application demands require it.
- 5
Ensure the thermal switch (if present) on the braking resistor is functioning correctly and wired to the drive's input if used for monitoring.
