E36
Abnormally High Discharge Temperature / Refrigerant or THOD Sensor Fault
Mitsubishi Electric · R410A Systems
What does E36 mean?
The compressor discharge temperature is abnormally high, possibly due to insufficient refrigerant charge or a defective compressor discharge temperature sensor (THOD). High discharge temperatures can lead to compressor damage.
Repair Steps
- 1
Measure the resistance of the THOD sensor at its leads — compare to a resistance-temperature chart if available.
- 2
Measure discharge pressure and temperature at the compressor outlet using manifold gauges and a temperature probe.
- 3
Perform a leak detection test and verify refrigerant charge level — recover, evacuate, and recharge if low.
- 4
Inspect the THOD sensor's connector on the outdoor unit PCB for secure seating and damage.
