Communication Error (PU Connector)
Mitsubishi Electric · FR-E500 Inverter
What does E.PUE mean?
This error code indicates a communication fault originating from the PU connector, specifically related to RS-485 communication. When the E.PUE fault occurs, the inverter's operation stops, and communication via the PU connector is interrupted. During this fault state, the inverter cannot be reset using a computer connected via the PU connector.
Common Causes
- Loss of communication signal on the RS-485 bus connected to the PU connector.
- Incorrect termination resistor configuration on the RS-485 network.
- Damaged PU connector pins or internal wiring.
- Electromagnetic interference disrupting the data transmission.
- Incorrect baud rate or data format settings for RS-485 communication.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Verify RS-485 bus voltage levels at terminals A and B of the PU connector.
- 2
Inspect physical integrity of the PU connector and its mating half.
- 3
Confirm termination resistor values (typically 120 ohms) are correctly installed at network ends.
- 4
Cycle power to the affected unit after verifying connections.
- 5
Test communication with a known good PU unit if available.
