OC During Dec

Overcurrent shut-off during deceleration

Mitsubishi Electric · FR-E500 Inverter

What does OC During Dec mean?

The inverter output is shut off because the output current reached or exceeded approximately 200% of the rated current during the deceleration phase. This can be caused by too rapid deceleration, issues with mechanical braking, or a fault in the motor/wiring.

Common Causes

  • Motor decelerating too rapidly for the load or inverter's braking capability.
  • Output short-circuit or ground fault occurring during deceleration.
  • Mechanical brake on the motor engaging too quickly or aggressively.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Increase the deceleration time setting (e.g., Pr. 8 or Pr. 45) to allow for a smoother slowdown.

  2. 2

Adjust the operation of the motor's mechanical brake to ensure it is not engaging too quickly or causing excessive current spikes.

  3. 3

Inspect motor cable and motor terminals for signs of short-circuit or ground fault.
