53 Drive Reverse Coil Fault
Kone · Elevator Control
What does 53 mean?
A fault has been detected in the drive reverse coil, indicating an electrical issue with the solenoid responsible for reverse motion. This disables both lifting and driving functions.
Common Causes
- Drive reverse coil open circuit, short circuit, or high resistance.
- Damaged wiring or loose connections to the drive reverse coil.
- Control circuit failure attempting to activate the coil.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Verify the nominal operating voltage for the drive reverse coil.
- 2
Measure the voltage across the terminals of the drive reverse coil when it should be active.
- 3
Inspect all wiring and connections leading to and from the drive reverse coil for damage, looseness, or signs of overheating.
- 4
Measure the resistance of the drive reverse coil itself, comparing it to specifications or a known good value.
- 5
Check for continuity across any protective fuses or circuit breakers in the drive reverse coil circuit.
