Power derating caused by excessively high temperatures

Fronius · Solar Energy

What does 517 mean?

When the inverter's internal temperature becomes excessively high, it initiates power derating to protect components, displaying a warning message. The system automatically reduces output power until temperatures return to a safe range.

Common Causes

  • Excessively high ambient temperatures around the inverter
  • Obstructed cooling air openings preventing adequate airflow
  • Accumulation of dirt or debris on the heat sink reducing cooling efficiency

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Purge any obstructions from the cooling air openings of the inverter

  2. 2

Clean the heat sink to ensure proper heat dissipation
