Inverter: motor current alarm (N axis)

Fanuc · Series 30i/31i/32i-MODEL B Plus

What does d mean?

A motor current alarm has been detected for the N axis. Potential root causes include short-circuits or ground faults within the power lead phases or motor winding phases, an incorrect motor ID setting in the amplifier, or failures within the Servo Amplifier or the motor itself. This alarm indicates an abnormal current draw or path.

Common Causes

  • Short-circuit between power lead phases or ground fault in them
  • Short-circuit between motor winding phases or ground fault in them
  • Incorrect motor ID setting
  • Servo Amplifier failure
  • Motor failure

Repair Steps

  1. 1

Measure insulation resistance of power lead phases to ground using a megohmmeter.

  2. 2

Measure insulation resistance between motor winding phases and from each phase to ground.

  3. 3

Verify the motor ID setting in the Servo Amplifier parameters matches the connected motor's nameplate data.

  4. 4

If external electrical checks are good, consider replacing the Servo Amplifier or the motor based on further diagnosis.
