Spindle Serial Link Cannot Be Started
Fanuc · Series 20 CNC
What does 750 mean?
This alarm indicates a failure in establishing the serial communication link between the Fanuc Series 20 CNC and the spindle amplifier. Without this link, the CNC cannot control the spindle, making machining operations impossible.
Common Causes
- Loose or damaged serial communication cable (e.g., fiber optic) between the CNC and the spindle amplifier.
- Incorrect serial link parameters or configuration in the CNC or spindle amplifier.
- Malfunctioning spindle amplifier serial interface.
- Faulty CNC spindle control board.
- Power supply issue to the spindle amplifier preventing its initialization.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Inspect the serial communication cable between the CNC and the spindle amplifier for any physical damage, kinks, or loose connections.
- 2
Verify that the serial link parameters (e.g., I/O channel, communication protocol) in both the CNC and spindle amplifier are correctly configured and match.
- 3
Check the spindle amplifier's status LEDs for any internal faults or initialization errors.
- 4
Power cycle the CNC and spindle amplifier in the correct sequence (typically amplifier first, then CNC).
- 5
If available, swap the spindle serial cable or the spindle amplifier with a known good unit to isolate the problem.
