External Fault
Yaskawa · VS-616G5 Variable Speed Drive
¿Qué significa EF5 ?
This fault indicates that an external protective device or interlock connected to a specific digital input (corresponding to EF5) has been activated, triggering a trip in the inverter. The specific cause depends on the external device wired to that input. This is a safety feature to stop the drive based on external process conditions, preventing damage to the system or injury.
Causas comunes
- Safety interlock (e.g., guard door switch, light curtain) connected to EF5 input has been triggered or is open.
- Damaged wiring leading to the digital input assigned as EF5 (e.g., S5).
- The external device connected to EF5 is faulty or requires calibration/reset.
- Accumulation of dust or debris causing an external sensor (e.g., proximity switch) connected to EF5 to false-trigger.
- Incorrect assignment of the digital input (e.g., P0-08 or similar) to the EF5 fault function.
Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación
Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.
- 1
Identify the specific external device or interlock associated with the EF5 input (e.g., S5).
- 2
Verify the physical state of the external device (e.g., guard door closed, light curtain clear).
- 3
Measure the voltage at the inverter's EF5 input terminal (S5-SC) to confirm the input signal's integrity.
- 4
Check for continuity of the connection wires from the external device to the EF5 input terminals.
- 5
Clean or recalibrate any sensors or switches connected to EF5 that might be susceptible to environmental factors.
