¿Qué significa PGo ?

No PG (Pulse Generator/encoder) pulses were received for a duration longer than the setting in F1-14. This indicates a physical disconnection or incorrect wiring of the PG cable, insufficient power to the PG encoder, or a brake preventing encoder movement, leading to a loss of speed/position feedback.

Causas comunes

  • Physical disconnection of the PG (Pulse Generator/encoder) cable from the drive's PG input terminals or from the encoder itself.
  • Incorrect wiring of the PG feedback signals (e.g., A/A-bar, B/B-bar, Z/Z-bar) or power supply (e.g., 5VDC, 12VDC) to the drive's PG option card or main board terminals.
  • Insufficient or absent power supply voltage (e.g., 5VDC) to the encoder due to cable voltage drop, faulty wiring, or drive internal power supply issue.
  • Encoder hardware failure (e.g., internal component damage, shattered disc) preventing the generation of valid pulse signals.
  • Incorrect setting of Parameter F1-14 (PG Disconnect Detection Time) or F1-15 (PG Pulse Number) not matching the encoder specification.

    Inspect the PG cable for visible damage, kinks, or frayed insulation along its entire length, and ensure secure connections at both the encoder and drive terminals (e.g., PG_A, PG_B, PG_Z, PG_5V, PG_0V).

    Measure the voltage supply to the encoder at the encoder connector (e.g., 5VDC or 12VDC) to confirm it is within the encoder's specified operating range.

    Verify that Parameter F1-15 (PG Pulse Number) in the drive matches the actual pulse count (e.g., 1024 P/R) of the installed encoder.

    With the drive powered down and output disconnected, manually rotate the motor shaft slowly and use an oscilloscope to check for pulse signals (A, B, Z) at the encoder output.

  5. 5

    Temporarily bypass the encoder by switching the drive to sensorless vector control (if applicable) to determine if the fault is specifically related to the PG feedback.
