SI CU: Brake Control Error

Siemens · DAsl Diagnostics and Alarms

¿Qué significa F01630 ?

The drive-integrated 'Safety Integrated' function on the Control Unit (CU) has detected an error in the brake control, initiating a STOP A. Causes include incorrect parameter p1278, wire breakage, no brake connected, a ground fault in the brake cable, or a short-circuit in the brake winding. This fault prevents safe operation and indicates a critical issue with the holding brake system that must be resolved.

Causas comunes

  • Incorrect setting of parameter P1278 (Brake test enable) or P1279 (Brake release delay) for the installed motor brake.
  • Wire breakage or loose connection in the brake control circuit between the Control Unit (CU) and the motor brake (e.g., at X20 terminals).
  • No current detected through the motor brake winding when a release command is issued (e.g., open circuit brake coil).
  • Motor brake mechanical failure preventing proper release or engagement (e.g., seized brake, excessively worn friction pads).
  • Short circuit in the brake control circuit, causing an overcurrent trip in the CU's internal brake output stage.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

Verify parameter P1278 (Brake test enable) and P1279 (Brake release delay) are correctly configured according to the motor brake's specifications and application requirements.

  2. 2

Power off the drive, disconnect the brake wires at the drive's CU (e.g., X20 terminals), and measure the resistance of the brake coil; compare to the motor manufacturer's specification.

  3. 3

Inspect the entire brake wiring path from the CU (X20) to the motor terminal box for any cuts, abrasions, or loose connections.

  4. 4

Apply a safe external DC voltage (e.g., 24VDC) directly to the brake coil (after disconnecting from the drive) and listen for the brake engagement/disengagement click to check mechanical function.

  5. 5

Check the actual current drawn by the brake coil during operation (if measurable with a current clamp) and compare it to the expected nominal current.
