System malfunction

SEW Eurodrive · MCBSM

¿Qué significa F-24 ?

An internal system malfunction has occurred within the inverter electronics, potentially influenced by electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) issues. This fault causes an immediate switch-off and inhibits operation, signifying a critical internal hardware or software problem that requires expert attention.

Causas comunes

  • Internal power supply monitoring fault, indicating an issue with an internal voltage rail (e.g., 5V, 3.3V) on the control board.
  • Failure of a digital signal processor (DSP) or field-programmable gate array (FPGA) responsible for critical control loops.
  • Data integrity error during communication between the control board and optional expansion modules (e.g., I/O, encoder cards).
  • Physical damage or contamination (e.g., moisture, conductive dust) on the main control board.
  • Over-current detection within an internal circuit, indicating a short or overload on a sensitive internal rail.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

Power cycle the inverter and visually inspect the main control board for any signs of arcing, burn marks, or bulging capacitors.

  2. 2

Disconnect any optional expansion modules or communication cards and attempt to power up the inverter without them.

  3. 3

Use a multimeter to verify voltage levels of accessible internal test points (e.g., 5V, 3.3V) on the control board, if safety allows and documentation provides points.

  4. 4

Ensure the control cabinet environment is free from conductive dust, moisture, or corrosive gases that could cause internal shorts.

  5. 5

Confirm the inverter's input voltage stability and ensure that it is consistently within the specified operating range, without fluctuations.
