OLC

Process Overload Fault (Torque)

Schneider Electric · Altivar Machine ATV320 Variable Speed Drive

¿Qué significa OLC ?

A torque overload detected by the drive. This indicates that the motor has been operating above its rated torque for an extended period, leading to a risk of overheating and damage to both the motor and the driven equipment. It's often related to a mechanical issue or an undersized motor/drive combination.

Causas comunes

  • Mechanical binding or increased friction in the driven equipment (e.g., bearing failure, misalignment), requiring excessive motor torque.
  • Incorrect process parameters or setpoints demanding higher torque than the motor can sustainably provide.
  • Under-sizing of the motor or drive for the application's actual continuous or peak load requirements.
  • Parameter P6-02 (Overload Trip Level) set too low or P6-03 (Overload Time) set too short for the application's normal torque fluctuations.
  • Inadequate motor cooling (e.g., blocked fan, high ambient temperature) causing the drive's thermal model to trip prematurely.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

Using an ammeter, measure the actual motor current (U, V, W phases) and compare it to the motor nameplate rated current and the drive's output current (d0-02).

  2. 2

Mechanically inspect the driven load for any obstructions, seized bearings, or binding that would increase torque demand.

  3. 3

Adjust parameter P6-02 (Overload Trip Level) if it is incorrectly set below the motor's actual continuous operating current.

  4. 4

Increase parameter P6-03 (Overload Time) to allow for temporary overload peaks, but ensure it does not compromise motor protection.

  5. 5

Verify the motor's mechanical cooling (fan, fins) is functional and its ambient operating temperature is within specification.
