Current limit exceeded

Danfoss · VLT HVAC Drive High Power

¿Qué significa 59 ?

The motor current has exceeded the value set in parameter 4-18 (Current Limit). This indicates that the motor is drawing excessive current, potentially due to overload, incorrect motor data, or a mechanical issue, which could lead to motor or drive overheating and damage if not addressed.

Causas comunes

  • Excessive mechanical overload on the motor shaft (e.g., jammed pump, seized bearing, overloaded conveyor).
  • Parameter P4-18 (Current Limit) is set too low for the application's actual load requirements.
  • Motor winding insulation breakdown leading to a phase-to-phase or phase-to-ground short circuit.
  • Incorrect motor data parameters (P1-20 to P1-25) causing inaccurate motor modeling and current control.
  • Acceleration ramp time (P2-10) is set too short for the inertia of the connected load, causing high startup current.
  • Drive output phase loss or imbalance causing excessive current in remaining phases.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

    1. Measure the motor current with an external clamp meter and compare it to the drive's displayed current (e.g., P16-04).

  2. 2

    2. Verify Parameter P4-18 (Current Limit) is set appropriately, typically 150-180% of nominal motor current (P1-24).

  3. 3

    3. Disconnect the motor from the mechanical load and check for free rotation of the motor shaft by hand.

  4. 4

    4. Measure motor winding resistance and insulation resistance (megohmmeter) to detect internal motor faults.

  5. 5

    5. Increase Parameter P2-10 (Acceleration Ramp 1) to a longer duration to reduce inrush current during startup.

  6. 6

    6. Confirm incoming AC line voltage (L1, L2, L3) at the drive input terminals is balanced and within specification.
