Motor Overload

Allen-Bradley · PowerFlex 40 Adjustable Frequency

¿Qué significa F7 ?

An excessive motor load exists, causing the drive output current to surpass the motor overload current limit defined by parameter P033 [Motor OL Current]. This protects the motor from thermal damage. This is an Auto-Reset/Run type fault configurable with parameters A092 and A093.

Causas comunes

  • Mechanical overload on the driven equipment (e.g., seized bearings, material jam) increasing current draw.
  • Motor current limit P033 [Motor OL Current] set below the motor's actual full load current (FLA).
  • Incorrect motor nameplate data (e.g., P030 [Motor FLA]) entered into the drive, leading to an inaccurate thermal model.
  • Motor cooling fan failure or obstructed cooling fins, reducing the motor's ability to dissipate heat.
  • Significant phase imbalance in the motor supply voltage causing one or more phases to draw excessive current.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

Measure the actual motor current on each phase (U, V, W) using a clamp meter during operation and compare to motor nameplate FLA.

  2. 2

Verify drive parameter P033 [Motor OL Current] is set correctly to 100% of the motor nameplate FLA.

  3. 3

Confirm drive parameter P030 [Motor FLA] matches the motor nameplate FLA and P031 [Motor NP Volts] matches the motor nameplate voltage.

  4. 4

Inspect the driven equipment for mechanical binding or obstruction by rotating the shaft manually if safe to do so.

  5. 5

Check for proper motor cooling by verifying fan operation and ensuring cooling fins are free of dust and debris.
