Brake Resistor Overheat

ABB · ACS800 Standard Firmware

¿Qué significa 7112 ?

The brake resistor is overloaded, leading to excessive temperature. This can occur if the braking cycle is too demanding, if the supply AC voltage to the drive is excessive, or if the resistor overload protection is misconfigured, risking damage to the resistor.

Causas comunes

  • Braking resistor temperature sensor indicates overheat condition.
  • Excessive regenerative energy from motor braking is overloading the resistor.
  • Braking resistor is undersized for the application's duty cycle.
  • Cooling fan for the braking resistor unit is not operating correctly.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

Allow the brake resistor to cool down to a safe operating temperature.

  2. 2

Check parameter settings in parameter group 27 (BRAKE CHOPPER) related to resistor overload protection.

  3. 3

Verify that the braking cycle (duration, frequency, energy dissipation) meets the allowed operational limits for the installed resistor.

  4. 4

Measure the drive's AC supply voltage to ensure it is within specified limits and not excessively high.
