Reserved Switch Address Setting

ABB · AC500-S Safety Controller

¿Qué significa E4-0 ?

A reserved switch address setting is currently being used for the Safety PLC. This is an invalid configuration that prevents proper operation and initialization of the safety functions.

Causas comunes

  • Physical DIP switch (or rotary switch) settings on the Safety PLC module are configured to an address range reserved for internal system use or another device type.
  • Incorrect configuration of the network address (e.g., PROFINET device name or IP address) that clashes with a predefined system reserved address.
  • Accidental modification of hardware address settings during maintenance or module replacement without cross-referencing documentation.
  • Faulty DIP switch array or internal address decoding hardware on the Safety PLC module itself.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

Power down the Safety PLC, physically inspect the DIP switches (or rotary switches) on the module, and set them to a valid, unreserved address according to the hardware manual.

  2. 2

Restart the Safety PLC module and verify if the fault clears and communication is established.

  3. 3

If configured via software, connect to the Safety PLC via its service port and verify its network address (e.g., IP address, PROFINET device name) does not conflict with reserved ranges.

  4. 4

Cross-reference the module's documentation for the correct valid address ranges for the specific Safety PLC model and verify (e.g., Parameter P6-01).
