51
External fault
Vacon · 20 Compact
What does 51 mean?
A digital input that has been configured as an external fault input has become active. This means an external device connected to this input has signaled a fault condition to the frequency converter.
Common Causes
- DC bus voltage exceeds the drive's maximum safe limit (e.g., P0205).
- Regenerative braking energy too high for the DC bus to dissipate.
- Line voltage surge during power-up.
- Faulty braking resistor or chopper circuit.
- Capacitor bank failure in the DC link.
Repair Steps & Checklist
