Fieldbus Process Data Out Conversion Error

Vacon · 100 FLOW Application Guide

What does 1311 mean?

The drive is unable to convert one or more values for Fieldbus Process Data Out because the data type is not correctly specified or incompatible. This prevents the drive from accurately transmitting process data over the fieldbus. Incorrect data types can lead to misinterpretation by the fieldbus master and potential control anomalies.

Common Causes

  • Data type mismatch between the drive's internal parameter and the configured Fieldbus Process Data Out type (e.g., trying to output a 32-bit float as a 16-bit integer).
  • Incorrect scaling parameter (e.g., P4-10, scaling factor for output) applied to a Process Data Out value, leading to an impossible conversion.
  • A drive parameter chosen for Fieldbus Process Data Out is non-numeric or of an unsupported data format for fieldbus transmission.
  • Internal software error in the drive's fieldbus communication stack preventing correct data type handling.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Review the Fieldbus Process Data Out mapping (e.g., P4-01 to P4-XX) and ensure the selected drive parameters are compatible with the configured fieldbus data types.

  2. 2

    2. Verify the scaling factor parameters (e.g., P4-YY for specific output scaling) for the Process Data Out entry to ensure it results in a representable value.

  3. 3

    3. Check the drive's documentation for the selected parameter to confirm its native data type (e.g., integer, float, word) and range.

  4. 4

    4. Adjust the fieldbus master (PLC) configuration to expect the correct data type for the specific Process Data Out from the drive.

  5. 5

    5. Attempt to map a simpler, known-good parameter (e.g., drive status word) to a Process Data Out to isolate the conversion issue.
