What does F13.13 mean?
A communication error occurred during the initialization phase of Encoder 1. This can be caused by incorrect parameterization, mismatched baud rates, an improperly configured CANopen node ID at the encoder, or faulty wiring. This prevents the encoder from being properly recognized and providing feedback.
Common Causes
- Mismatched communication baud rate (P7-01) between the drive and the encoder during the initial handshake phase.
- Incorrect CANopen node ID (P7-03) configured in the drive, conflicting with another device or not matching the encoder's ID.
- The encoder unit's internal parameters (e.g., measuring steps, pulses per revolution) are not correctly configured before communication starts.
- Loose or improperly terminated communication bus preventing initial connection establishment.
- Encoder requires a specific power-up sequence or delay that is not being met by the drive's power supply.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Verify that the drive's communication baud rate (P7-01) exactly matches the encoder's configured baud rate.
- 2
Confirm the drive's CANopen node ID (P7-03) is unique on the network and matches the encoder's expected ID.
- 3
Check the encoder's power supply voltage at the terminals (e.g., +24VDC) during startup for voltage sags below 20VDC.
- 4
Inspect all connections on the communication bus for proper seating and verify bus termination (e.g., 120 Ohm resistors).
- 5
Attempt to re-initialize the encoder communication via the drive's control (e.g., P7-00 set to 1 then 0) after verifying parameters.
