Opposite Rotation Deceleration Fault

Mitsubishi Electric · FR-A800 Variable Speed Drive (Separated Converter)

What does E.11 mean?

This fault indicates an issue during the process of decelerating the motor to a stop or reversing its direction, where the FR-A800 detects unexpected rotation or an inability to control the deceleration as commanded.

Common Causes

  • Mechanical binding or excessive load preventing proper deceleration or causing unexpected rotation during reversal.
  • Insufficient deceleration torque from the motor or regenerative capacity issues (e.g., insufficient braking resistor capacity).
  • Incorrect deceleration time parameter settings (e.g., Pr.7, Pr.8) or insufficient braking torque (Pr.30).
  • Inaccurate speed feedback from an encoder or sensor, leading to incorrect detection of motor speed and direction.
  • External forces acting on the motor, overriding the inverter's deceleration control.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check for any mechanical binding, excessive friction, or external forces acting on the motor or load that could impede deceleration.

  2. 2

Verify the deceleration time parameters (Pr.7, Pr.8) are set appropriately for the application's inertia and required stopping time.

  3. 3

Ensure the braking resistor and its connection are correct and have sufficient capacity for the application's regenerative energy.

  4. 4

Check the motor's ability to produce sufficient torque for deceleration. Inspect motor wiring and verify motor parameters.

  5. 5

If an encoder is used for speed feedback, verify its operation and correct installation, as inaccurate feedback can cause control issues during deceleration.
