E.PE2

Internal board fault

Mitsubishi Electric · FR E700

What does E.PE2 mean?

This internal board fault trips the inverter when there is an incorrect combination or mismatch between the control board and the main circuit board. This indicates a serious hardware incompatibility or assembly error. The inverter cannot operate safely under these conditions.

Common Causes

  • Control circuit board installed is not compatible with the main power circuit board (e.g., different generations or power ratings).
  • Incorrect firmware loaded onto the control board for the specific main circuit hardware configuration.
  • Loose or damaged connection ribbon cable between the control board and the main power board.
  • Internal component failure on either the control board or main power board causing an incompatibility detection.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify part numbers and serial numbers of both the control board and the main power board against inverter documentation for compatibility.

  2. 2

Power down the inverter, then physically disconnect and reconnect the ribbon cable(s) that link the control board to the main power board.

  3. 3

Check for any bent pins or damage on the connectors of the ribbon cables and the board interfaces.

  4. 4

Confirm that the firmware version on the control board is the correct one for the installed main power section.

  5. 5

Measure resistance between communication lines on the ribbon cable to identify any broken traces or short circuits.
