OVERCURRENT Ax

Axis Overcurrent

Kuka · KR C2 Robot Controller

What does OVERCURRENT Ax mean?

This fault indicates an overcurrent condition on the specified axis (Ax). Possible causes include overloading of the axis or an I²t overload. A defective KSD module could also be the root cause.

Common Causes

  • Mechanical overload on the motor exceeding its rated current (P3-01).
  • Incorrect motor tuning parameters, leading to excessive current draw.
  • Short circuit in the motor windings or motor cable.
  • Drive unit commanded to produce torque beyond its capability.
  • Encoder feedback error causing incorrect current control (P4-xx).

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Reduce the load on the affected axis by decreasing the Override (OVR) setting in the robot program.

  2. 2

Reduce the acceleration for the affected axis using the `$ACC_AXIS` parameter.

  3. 3

If the issue persists, exchange the KSD module for the affected axis.
