Incorrect direction of motion
Indramat · Indradrive
What does F7031 mean?
The motor attempted to move in a direction opposite to the allowed or commanded direction during a safety-monitored operation. This fault indicates a serious discrepancy between the expected and actual motion, usually triggered by a safety function like Safe Direction.
Common Causes
- Incorrect phase sequence of motor wiring.
- Inverted encoder signals or incorrect encoder wiring.
- Incorrectly configured safety direction parameter.
- Control error or unintended command causing reverse motion.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Verify the motor phase connections (U, V, W) to ensure correct rotation direction relative to commands.
- 2
Check the encoder wiring for correct polarity and signal integrity; ensure signals are not inverted.
- 3
Review the safety direction configuration parameters in the IndraDrive and ensure they match the application's requirements.
- 4
Test the motor's actual direction of rotation against a commanded positive and negative movement in a controlled environment.
- 5
If the problem persists, the drive's control of direction or its interpretation of encoder feedback might be faulty.
