F7012

Safety rel. position limit val., exc. in neg. dir.

Indramat · Indradrive

What does F7012 mean?

The motor's actual position has exceeded a defined safety-related position limit in the negative direction. This fault, part of safe motion monitoring, prevents the axis from moving beyond a safe physical boundary in the reverse direction.

Common Causes

  • Uncontrolled or unintended movement beyond the negative safety limit.
  • Incorrectly configured safety-related negative position limit parameter.
  • Faulty position feedback (encoder) providing erroneous actual position values.
  • Mechanical overrun due to excessive inertia or braking distance.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify the configured safety-related negative position limit parameter (e.g., S-0-0XXX Safe Negative Position Limit) in the IndraDrive.

  2. 2

Check for any mechanical issues that could cause the axis to overshoot its intended position, such as worn brakes or excessive play.

  3. 3

Inspect the position encoder and its cabling for proper function and signal integrity.

  4. 4

Review the motion control program for unintended commands or logic errors that might cause overtravel.

  5. 5

Adjust deceleration ramps or braking parameters if the axis consistently overshoots due to inertia.
