E2061

Device overload prewarning

Indramat · IndraDrive MPx02

What does E2061 mean?

The IndraDrive MPx02 has detected that its internal thermal load or output current is approaching its maximum permissible limit. This is a prewarning, indicating that continued operation under current conditions could lead to an overload fault, subsequent shutdown, and potential damage to the drive.

Common Causes

  • The motor or driven load is operating near or above its continuous rating.
  • Ambient temperature around the drive is too high, hindering effective cooling.
  • Insufficient cooling for the drive due to blocked fan vents, a dirty heatsink, or a faulty cooling fan.
  • Incorrect motor or application parameters in the drive (e.g., motor thermal time constant) leading to inaccurate thermal modeling.
  • Excessive short-term peak loads that accumulate thermal stress.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Reduce the mechanical load on the motor or adjust the operating cycle to decrease the average current draw of the motor.

  2. 2

Check the ambient temperature around the IndraDrive MPx02 and ensure it is within the specified operating limits.

  3. 3

Inspect the cooling fan of the drive for proper operation and ensure the heatsink fins are free from dust and debris.

  4. 4

Verify that motor parameters, particularly thermal model parameters, are correctly configured in the drive to match the connected motor.

  5. 5

Consider increasing the drive or motor size if the application consistently runs near overload conditions, or implement external cooling.
