Short to ground power supply unit
Indramat · DIAX 04
What does F380 mean?
The DIAX04 SSE-03VRS power supply unit has detected a short circuit to ground on one of its outputs or internal circuits. This is a severe fault indicating insulation breakdown or incorrect wiring, leading to uncontrolled current flow and potential damage to the unit or connected equipment. The unit shuts down immediately for safety.
Common Causes
- Short circuit to ground on the DC bus output of the DIAX04 SSE-03VRS power supply unit.
- Motor cable insulation breakdown or short to ground within the motor, if the power supply unit is also managing motor connection.
- Internal insulation failure or component damage within the DIAX04 SSE-03VRS power supply unit.
- Faulty wiring or incorrect grounding of components connected to the power supply unit.
- Moisture ingress or contamination causing a conductive path to ground.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Immediately disconnect all output power cables from the DIAX04 SSE-03VRS power supply unit (e.g., DC bus connections) and attempt to power up. If the fault clears, the short is external.
- 2
Use an insulation resistance tester (megger) to check for shorts to ground on the DC bus bars and connected cables.
- 3
Inspect all power wiring and connections for any signs of damage, pinching, or contact with the enclosure ground.
- 4
Check for moisture, debris, or carbonization within the DIAX04 SSE-03VRS power supply unit and its terminal connections.
- 5
If the fault persists with no external connections, it indicates an internal short to ground within the DIAX04 SSE-03VRS power supply unit, requiring factory service or replacement.
