AMA internal fault (Contact supplier)
Danfoss · VLT HVAC Drive High Power
What does 58 mean?
A persistent internal fault has occurred during the Automatic Motor Adaptation (AMA) process that cannot be resolved through simple restarts. This indicates a potentially deeper issue with the drive's internal diagnostics or hardware.
Common Causes
- A critical internal drive hardware component has failed (e.g., main processor, power module, measurement circuit).
- Severe and unrecoverable corruption of drive firmware or operating system.
- Permanent damage to the control board or its communication bus.
- Persistent internal sensor fault preventing accurate motor characterization.
- Failure of a power stage component that impacts motor current or voltage output during AMA.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
1. Record all drive parameters (P-settings) for documentation and future reference before further troubleshooting.
- 2
2. Cycle power to the drive (power off, wait 60 seconds, power on) and observe if the fault persists immediately.
- 3
3. Disconnect the motor completely from the drive output terminals (U, V, W) and attempt AMA in 'no motor connected' mode (if supported).
- 4
4. Visually inspect the drive's internal components for signs of burning, bulging capacitors, or physical damage.
- 5
5. Collect drive model number, serial number, firmware version, and detailed fault occurrence information for technical support.
